I got NEWS!

This weekend Hubs and I spent some quality time together....

We went shopping at CVS, ate at his favorite restaurant and visited another Wedding fair. We actually got lucky and found a few good venues. We'll be visiting them in the next few weeks. One place... The Social Club is only giving us til Friday to book to get $500 off. We drove by after the fair but they were closed. Take a look... it's pretty fancy!

There was so many giveaways and chances to book with great savings... And guess what?! I won one of the grand prizes! I will tell you about that later, hint (we might have the most important thing paid!)

Out of the Box

I love to be different, I love to do new things and that's what I want at our wedding as well. As I've been telling everyone about my theme and what I want it to be like I get lots of odd looks, like, "That's different." Good, I say! lol I was going through some wedding blogs and I ran across Kimberly on Facebook. She was talking about a wedding she had just attended, she lives in South Korea. To live in any other country than your own is amazing. So I asked her if it was okay to share some photos and her post about it and she was more than happy to share with ya'll. I love the traditional dresses but I also want it to look chic and put together... What do you think?

A Korean wedding is very modern from the very long, flowing white dress to the basic ceremony of prayer and well wishes. However, there is a lot of cultural and traditional elements that occur on this special day. Before going into the details of the wedding, first you need to know that when a female is married, she keeps her last name. When she has children though, they will carry the husband's last name. Her name is also moved to his family tree. The name is written in black like the rest of the names. If a Korean passes away, their name is written in red. This is one of the reasons you should never write a Korean's name in red since it's saying that they should have an early death (this is actually based on a Chinese tradition).

Like any wedding day, family members come to celebrate the joining of the happy couple. Many Koreans will have their wedding usually in their hometowns to have less traveling for their families. Hardly any of them run off and do a "Vegas style" wedding because of their respect for tradition............. READ MORE of Kimberly's experience and a cool video too!!

I think...

I think we have picked our VENUE!! AHh, how exciting. Price is the only thing holding us back from picking the one I WANT! lol The more expensive one is MY choice because of the fact that nature plays a roll in the decor! Hubs first choice is ONLY because it is closer and easier to find. It also is an outdoor venue, but it's enclosed by walls, there is no roof. I want to say who it's going to be, but I don't want something to happen last minute..... but just imagine.... tinkly lights EVERYWHERE!

I'm also excited because we've got our engagement party scheduled as well and we will officially release our wedding date and then we will send out our Save the Date video that we won!

For those planning a wedding locally, make sure you don't miss:

More Insirations!

Ohh, I'm so excited because Hubs and I have an appoitment to go see "La Placita" in Pharr, Tx. It's an indoor patio, which sounds kinda weird and downfall is that it only sits 200. I mean that's not really a downfall, but I don't want people to be squished and both our families are on the bigger side, so we need extra room.

I also wanted to share some pics from last Sundays Super Sunday Bridal Expo! It was held at the prestigious Cimmaron Club. I got a personal invitation to the event... Check it out! Ohh and the best part is.... keep reading!

The Famous Candy Bar! Anyone know popular asian candies? Also... GUESS WHAT?! I won again. This time I won 20% off a local furniture rentals! I forgot the name and it's too cold outside to go get my wedding bag from the car!

Super Sunday Bridal Expo

Yup! While the men are watching the game The Club at Cimarron is hosting a bridal expo. I was given FREE tickets to attend! They came in a fancy little card, so I will be visiting, taking pictures, getting ideas and see what vendors are in attendance. The Club at Cimarron is a fancy golf/country club in the area, so I hope there are some good vendors that I can get ideas from! I'm also excited for one of the prizes to be given away: Ultimate rehearsal dinner for 40! Wish me luck!
Date: February 6, 2011
Time: 11-4pm

Decisions, Decisions

And I feel like I'm making them all by myself! lol. But how many husbands are actually interested in helping plan the wedding. All they know is that they really really like this girl and want to have her babies, lol. I want him to come with me next weekend to start choosing our wedding registry items. It won't be a lot, it will just be what we need. But he won't care if I decide to scan a Sausage Stuffer! But he does surprise me sometimes... The other day I was at our local consignment store and I was going to buy a beautiful (vintage, I think) glass pitcher. It has the older style painted design on it. And Hubs actually stopped me and was like we have like a billion pitchers at home. I was like yeah, but they're old and probably leak in bpa. He pays attention at the weirdest times. Blah! Anywho...

So, with all the decisions I've been making, this past weekend I went for a jog. I just took in the scenery and now I want to drive around and take a look at all the local parks! I mean there was a lot of people at the park that I was at... thinking... and was like like can I ask these people to leave during my wedding? Lol. There was lots of hot sweaty men playing soccer. Which, come to think of it, wouldn't be a bad photo opp, right?!

So I'm still having trouble picking a venue! I so want to pick one before we make our "Save the Date" video that we won...

IDEAS?!

Guest List

From WeddingMagazine.org
Ohhhh! How can I do this? I have my family, my hubs family, my grandmas family my other grandmas family and my grandpas family. My "friends" list won't be long. Don't have that many close friends, thank goodness. But it's hard to not forget anyone. How did you decide who to invite and where did you cut it off. How many guests did you have.

When I talk to vendors I've been telling them 200, but I'm afraid it might be more. I'm using TheKnot to put everything together, but I'm thinking of having something in writing to just flip through pages instead of clicking!

Then I have the invitations.... Ohh I'm sure etiquette has changed... How do you invite family members who are not in good standings with others, or those who are divorced, or those who are just not good in social events?

I got a headache already and it's only 7am! I think I'm going to stop for now. I started my list... I only have 26 so far!

Another Event *FREE*

Excited to go to this one because I entered to win the $10,000 Wedding Package and you are required to be present to win as well as the monthly giveaway at www.valleyweddingpages.com!

And some news... Monday we will be calling venue and photography people to set up appointments to go and visit. I wonder how they will react when we tell them we want it to be as green as possible. I want to see what other recommendations they give.I know it's over a year away, but I want to be prepared.

So, if you are local... be sure to visit the event. It's on the corner of Texas & Business 83!

Welcome New followers!

Hi, ya'll.... hasn't ABE been fantastic! I haven't entered all the giveaways but plan to!

Well, I thought I'd take the time to welcome all my new followers. I really hope to gain some experienced (haha) women who have been married before. Also those who are great inspiration maybe even competition in looking their best at their wedding!

We are already married civilly but along with tradition, and ME, I've always and have been waiting to get married through the church, the church I grew up going to. Finally we have just gone a head and set a date, ready or not here we come!

Our wedding Date is July 28, 2012. Our first date was on July 28, 2003!
Our theme is Asian Chic. My hubs loves anime and I love the simple yet elegant look of their culture and my girls (I have two daughters, 6 & about to be 2!), love chinese food! We also plan (and it would be a dream if we could go to China or Japan for our honeymoon) to visit some time after we retire.

Anyways... I also plan to have a green wedding. My family (my aunts) have agreed to help me make the decorations and I want all the food to be bought locally as any flowers (but I plan on using as little as possible) that we may use.

I won't name names, but I'm going to be getting my wedding dress and accessories for FREE from two dear friends (maybe one should be my maid of honor!). And as you can see in the previous post I won my save the date video! Any suggestions on that?!

I think our colors will be crimson & creme. Although I don't know what other items to use, I'd like to incorporate the usual wedding symbols for luck and love, but was also thinking of faith hope and love. I also really don't want to use the traditional lanterns, but rather making fabric pom-poms.

Well, take a look at these pics: (found via Google Search)

These pom poms were hand-made for an Asian themed wedding (look at the hanging lanterns in the background!) using Chinese newspapers and took 6 hours to make each one!

These are adorable! I think we can make these... what do you think?
Again, not sure if I want to have these, but I want to use the symbols or letters, whatever they're called, :p
Love that the candles are hanging from the branches!
I think these were glass, which is a good idea, maybe just as decorations at the "sing-in table?"
