Four Daughters

This guest post from Werner Rogers

My wife and I have four daughters. I used to think that there would be no financial differences in having daughters versus having sons until they got married because of the price of their weddings. I was completely wrong. Each year, our power bill has gone up exponentially. From the moment our girls get up until the moment they go to bed, they are using so much electricity. It starts when they each take a 20 minute shower, then dry their hair, straighten their hair, and then curl it with a curling iron. Then they need special lighted mirrors to put their makeup on. They always leave their lights in their rooms on when they leave the house and I am constantly running around after them turning lights off. When they get home, they each get on the computer or watch TV. When they are not doing that, they are on the phone. Thank goodness they have cell phones because they do not use electricity except when they are charging. After last month’s power bill, I decided to see if I could find some better Electric Deals because our power bill is by far the highest it has ever been. Hopefully I’ll be able to save some money in this area somehow.

Happy 4th...

Great day for the U.S.A.! Independance day... When I was younger I would get the 4th confused with New Years! lol I don't know why. I thought New Years was on the 4th and vice versa. But now I got it all straightened out!

Well, in Texas, south Texas that is, we love to buy & pop our own fireworks. We call them "quetes!" And there are firework stands at almost every corner. They are illegal to pop within city limits, but many families do it anyways. We are out of the city, so we usually buy about $40 worth and enjoy the evening, or we'll go to grandmas house for a cook-out. When I was younger I also associated the holidays with someone getting hurt or fighting, lol. It was so much fun when I look back now. We had people fall off the roof, burn a finger (of course), break an arm, fall of a chair and so much fun with water-balloons! LOL

However you celebrate it, I hope you make some good memories and just relax and don't rush the day! Take it all in & keep America clean too, please!

In celebration, head on over to my Bamboopink Fan Page and check out my 24-hr auction & giveaway HERE! Email me if you want me to add an item for auction or something to giveaway if you're int he giving spirit!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

Guest Post ~ Women in a Different Light

SAG Awards
Written by my friend Constance Hayden

I think that one of the most incredible shows to watch on satellite television, that I got after seeing this http://www.directstartv.com, is the Screen Actors Guild Award ceremony. I love to watch this show and get a taste for which new celebrities are up and coming. There are so many young actresses and actors that are invited to this show every year and make an appearance. It is always fun to watch these young actresses and actors, to see which ones end up winning awards or end up having the best outfits at the SAG awards show.

I love to watch this show every year, with a group of my closest friends. We are all quite interested in fashion, as well as the world of celebrities. This show is our opportunity to predict which celebrities are going to become popular in the future. I have usually been right in the celebs that I have chosen as the most likely to be successful from the SAG awards show. The young actresses that I pick out from the crowd usually go on to star in the most hilarious romantic comedies of the year. I must admit that I have a talent for being able to pick out which actors and actresses will enjoy success in the film industry.

Overall, the SAG awards show is different form other shows, and because of this, offers quite a different perspective.

Out of the Box

I love to be different, I love to do new things and that's what I want at our wedding as well. As I've been telling everyone about my theme and what I want it to be like I get lots of odd looks, like, "That's different." Good, I say! lol I was going through some wedding blogs and I ran across Kimberly on Facebook. She was talking about a wedding she had just attended, she lives in South Korea. To live in any other country than your own is amazing. So I asked her if it was okay to share some photos and her post about it and she was more than happy to share with ya'll. I love the traditional dresses but I also want it to look chic and put together... What do you think?

A Korean wedding is very modern from the very long, flowing white dress to the basic ceremony of prayer and well wishes. However, there is a lot of cultural and traditional elements that occur on this special day. Before going into the details of the wedding, first you need to know that when a female is married, she keeps her last name. When she has children though, they will carry the husband's last name. Her name is also moved to his family tree. The name is written in black like the rest of the names. If a Korean passes away, their name is written in red. This is one of the reasons you should never write a Korean's name in red since it's saying that they should have an early death (this is actually based on a Chinese tradition).

Like any wedding day, family members come to celebrate the joining of the happy couple. Many Koreans will have their wedding usually in their hometowns to have less traveling for their families. Hardly any of them run off and do a "Vegas style" wedding because of their respect for tradition............. READ MORE of Kimberly's experience and a cool video too!!
