Slim by the Summer #5 - When You Gotta Go!

So this week's theme is......





Great topic hu?! This is probably the one thing that keeps America fat! Hubby and I were just talking about the topic this weekend saying that we know a lot of families who would probably lose 10 pounds by not eating out so much. It's just so easy to just go out to eat isn't it?!

I'm huge on saving money! Each week on my main blog, The Mami Blog, I plan our weeks menu and I also do weekly match-ups for our local grocery store. I HATE PAYING RETAIL! Wether it's food, groceries, clothing, housewares, etc. Anywho, so if we do go out to eat, usually hubby's decision, I grab my coupon binder and give suggestions for places that I have a coupon for. But sometimes it is only for a FREE Appetizer or FREE Dessert (not the best coupons), lol But we do like to try new places and it's hard because you don't know how they cook their food and if it will fit into your "diet."


Here are some tips that I use when we eat out
  1. Try not to!
  2. Avoid fast food!
  3. Don't do buffet
  4. Ask for your food to be steamed
  5. Drink water!
  6. Share a plate
  7. Avoid pasta dishes
  8. No appitizer
  9. Add a salad
  10. Eat Fruit
That's it! 10 tips are pretty simple... When all else fails just try to make a good choice. Got any questions about any of the tips? Drink a full glass of water before you eat, that way you don't eat as much. Pasta dishes usually have tons of butter, which is delicious, but yeah, no! lol Add a salad to your meal and ask if you can get the dressing on the side so you can control how much you use. And instead of fries or chips, ask if you can have some fresh fruit instead!
It was my mom's birthday this past weekend and everyone got a soda or a mixed beverage... NOT ME! I got some nice cold WATER!

Slim Me Down Weekly Weight Loss Challenge - Week 3


I almost BOMBED this week! But thanks to all the dancing we did this week... I shed some weight! We also got a visit from family and we went out to eat, but I did pretty good. I'm proud of myself. In a few minutes I'm ganna work out with more dancing with Dance Central that is. I'm planning on doing some reviews in the weeks to come, I think I mentioned that earlier. Lets get down to the numbers..

What I WEIGH:
Starting Weight: 189.6 (my highest)
Last Weeks Weight: 184.6
Current Weight: 183.8
Gain/Loss for the Week (+/-): -.08!
Total Gain/Loss: -5.8
First Goal: 180 by March 19th (my daughters birthday!)

Week 1: +0.4
Week 2: +1.4 
Week 3:  -0.8

*I'm only putting my weight on here so that i can make myself accountable. It's extremely embarrassing and that helps me want to change the number!*


What I DID:
Monday: 15 minutes EA Sports Active, 30 min walking
Tuesday: 30 minutes walking
Wednesday: ZUMBA PARTY!
Thursday: 45 minutes Dance Central
Friday: housework
Saturday: Laundry, 1 hour walking @ the mall
Sunday: 1 hour walking in the HOT sun!
 What I ATE:
Mon: No breakfast, Tuna Salad Sandwiches, Chicken Salad
Tues: Biscuits, Chicken Tacos, Chicken n Rice Casserole, Leftovers, Snack: Popcorn
Wed: Sausage n Eggs, Chicken Terriyak w/Mushrooms & zucchini! (it was good), Sandwiches
Thurs: I FORGOT!
Friday: No Breakfast, Jambalaya, Leftovers
Saturday: Pizza buffet (I had salad first), Snack: fruit smoothie, Hotdog n chips
Sunday: Egg n cheese tacos, Cheeseburger, taco salad

What's My INSPIRATION:
I want shoulders! I'm addicted to buying sleeve-less or spaghetti straps! I try to avoid them with my ugly arms, but sometimes I just can't resist. I hope to get back into them SOON!
 
THIS WEEK:
I wanna focus on eating breakfast and working  out at least 15 minutes a day!! AGAIN!

Slim Me Down Weekly Weight Loss Challenge: Week 1


 
I have been wanting to join a "challenge" for a while. About three years ago I did eDiets.com and I loved it. I've been wanting to go back, but the price has gone up. I loved all the challneges and I even won a few and got a few months FREE for winning. It was such motivation. At that time I was losing weight so that we could have baby #2 and it worked! After losing 20lbs the following month we became pregnant! 
About a year ago I joined CafeMom and has a great support team, but the support just faded away. I still post, but there's no activity, so no challenge, and I love to be challenged.

So, I just finally chose to link up with LWT Lebedas & MFT for their weekly challenge, "Slim Me Down..." I have been tracking for a few weeks so I'm putting in those numbers... Without further adieu here are my numbers
 
What I WEIGHT:

Current Weight: 183.2

Total Gain/Loss: -6.4

Tuesday - Nothing but house chores
Wednesday - More house chores
 
Since this was my first week and I started on Wed/Thurs, I'll post again on Sunday night and put what I've done for the remainder of the week.... I need a push!!




What I ATE:
Monday: Breakfast: toast with butter, Lunch: Grilled chicken salad, Dinner: Spaghetti n Meatballs, Snack: String cheese
Tuesday: Breakfast: Nothing, Lunch: Red Beans and Rice 1 piece of cornbread, Dinner: Sandwhich
Wednesday: Breakfast: 2 Bacon n Egg tacos, Lunch: (leftovers) Beef n Bean Tostadas, Dinner: Homemade Chicken Nuggets n mac n cheese! ahhh Snack: almond slivers


 What's My INSPIRATION:

This is the dress I want to wear for our rehearsal dinner!

Weigh-In - 12/3

Yup... finally doing a weigh in. I haven't seen what my weight was before but about 30 seconds ago I weighed myself and the scale said 185.0. I don't think that's that bad. Before Thanksgiving I had gotten up to 189! Yikes. That shocked me into working out in the mornings after breakfast and before the baby woke up. I had been doing pretty good with walking (at Wal-Mart). I would do about 2 1/2 plus the shopping around the store. I've been eating small portions. I've been cooking at home. You can go HERE to see my menu for the week, just look for Menu Plan Mondays. And... when we do go out to eat I usually have a coupon, so we get the small meal so we can save the most money and usually when I have a coupon for a FREE burger (BurgerKing) it's for a free Jr. buger, so it's already small. I ask them to replace the mayo with ketchup or sometimes mustard and if they don't charge extra, I ask for extra veggies. Oh, and if you ask them to put the veggies on the side SOMETIMES they will give you a whole salad, usually a side salad, but it's more veggies than they put on the burger.
All I have to aim for this holiday season is to not eat too many sweets. Hubby has been getting in the mood for sweets, usually cookies, and he'll drive all the way into town (only like 8 minutes) to get a pack of cookies! But he always drinks a glass of milk with that, so not too bad, right?
Anywho, take care during this holiday season....
